Welcome to the Center for Legal and Evidence-Based Practices. I just released "Bipartisan Bail Reform," which you can find on this page and, along with a couple of associated documents, through a tab on the left. In many ways, the new paper updates many of my earlier papers, including "Fundamentals of Bail," "Money as a Criminal Justice Stakeholder," "Model Bail Laws," and "Changing Bail Laws."
If there is any overarching message to these documents, it is the following for those who seek to change their bail laws: "Slow down or stop! Educate yourself on what you are attempting to do. Then, with that knowledge, make changes that will not harm society and that will not be quickly overturned."
